Chris and Kayla, as you can see, are super adorable. They were down from Washington visiting his parents for a family vacation last week and I wanted to give them a little photo shoot as a baby shower gift. Chris and his family are long time neighbors of ours and his mom and I are great friends, so it was an honor to photograph these two as they get ready to welcome to their family a baby boy....named Noah!!

Those who know me, know that I love dogs. And I really love photographing them. So, when a family friend asked if I would get a couple of shots of her huge puppy, Harvey and her newest additions Nutmeg and Brady, I just couldn't say no! Nutmeg and Brady are two of the cutest Golden Retriever puppies ever and Harvey, well he is just a gentle giant.

This was a perfect action shot of Harvey the Boxing Great Dane....

He serves his country with pride and because of that I am proud to know him. Nick will be going to Iraq for a year, leaving behind his beautiful wife Beka. It is a hard thing to swallow, as a wife, that a soldier wants to leave his home to go and protect the country that he loves, but Beka is a strong Army Wife who supports her soldier. My heart and prayers go out to the two of you during this year of separation.

Buster is one of the cutest little doggies I have ever had the opportunity to photograph. A Day in the Life of an Army Wife Waiting for Her Soldier to Come Home....

As a photographer, we get called upon to do a variety of different photo shoots. This past Sunday however, I was asked by a very special person to come and photograph as she and her friends and her mom cleaned her apartment. You see, her husband Nick, is returning home for two weeks before heading out to Iraq or Afghanistan and she wanted their home to be just perfect.

So, when I got the call to come over, I was so there. And I loved the part where all I had to do was use my camera and not the mop.....

Beka you are so beautiful and Buster you wear those dog tags like no other.....

A Very Special Graduation.....

Dean, Dean, Dean; what can I possibly say about you, except that you made it!!! Congratulations son for graduating in the Class of 2010. I loved every moment of watching you graduate....except the seats were unbearably uncomfortable....but in the end, it was worth it.

Now, go out and make something of yourself. Study hard in college; enjoy yourself in football; learn something new everyday; don't take yourself too serious; and most of all, just have fun. And remember, life is what you make of it, so go out and make it YOURS! I am proud of you and I love you Dean....

Spring brings to us many things...new life (just look at my garden), tributes to moms and dads, a new American Idol, longer days, and of course graduates. And I believe that without the latter, the things that spring brings may not have come to pass. Okay, yes we may still have longer days, but whether you know it or not, we need those graduates. We need them to go out into the world and become all they can be. Because without them, moving forward as a society would be very difficult.

And here's to Salina, a graduate of the Class of 2010....go out and make a difference in our world girl, I know you can!!!

A Young Family and Lots of Wind.....

We had been planning this photo shoot for a while and of course we settled on a day when the wind had to be blowing. And not just a little breeze but a full on continual gusty, nasty, dirt flying wind. But being the resourceful photographer that I am, I figured out a way to beat that wind and beat it down hard! Of course it really helped that the house was able to block some of the wind and we were able to get some awesome shots.

Prom & A Very Special Senior.....

The definition of Prom is a formal dance, but it really is a lot more than that. Senior Prom is really more of a right to passage into adulthood. Yes, there is dancing and hanging out with friends, but it is also a time in their lives when they realize there is no turning back. You can only move forward and your childhood... a thing of the past.

It sounds exciting and sad all at the same time, but for these young adults it really is the best time of their lives. And that's why Prom is so special and not just a dance after all.

To my favorite Senior of the Class of 2010. May the road ahead of you be filled with love, laughter and awesome journeys. And remember this son; "when you get the choice to sit it out or dance...I hope you dance!"

And because you just can't take a photo in a tux without shades....

Doggie Time.....

Yup, that's right, that's what time it is.....Doggie Time!!

Those of you that know me, know that I have a few things in life that I love. God, my husband, my children (whether I birthed them our not), my grandkids, photography and yes, my dogs. And pretty much in that order too....although the kids often feel the dogs are a little higher on the list, and maybe that's true...sometimes!

I decided last week that it was time for Koda and Daisy to make their official model debut. I figured they are old enough, after all they are 14 months old. And that they should be calm enough, now. And certainly they are trained enough....right?

WRONG. Alone, they were great. Sit, stay, down, they both had it going on until we put them together in the studio. I wonder how you say chaos in doggie language? So, for now trying them together in the studio just may not work. But, I did get some wonderful alone shots of a couple of things on my love list!

Here is my puppy, Daisy. She is so full of life and cuteness....

Yes, these two are simply that....Fabulous. As a photographer, I am always looking for ways to get my foot (or shall I say feet) into the hallways of the high schools in my area. This year I did just that and am so excited to present my Senior Reps for the Class of 2011.

Both are so very photogenic and really know how to work the camera....which made my job so much fun and a little easier too. I know these two will work it for Carol Nanfito Photography and I can't wait to see who they send my way. Thank you Brooke and Andy, we are going to have an awesome experience together!

A Boy...A Mom....and Beauty!

I have been looking for a beautiful place to shoot, that was local and sure enough I found it. Well, I didn't really find it, but Cannon's Mommy did, which is exactly where we went. This place is so gorgeous and serene; a perfect spot for just about anything.....yes, they do weddings and events.

I just could not get enough of this fabulous location and of course it did not hurt to have with me Cannon and Melissa to share in all this awesomeness! Can't wait to return soon!!

They met and fell in love. They married after knowing each other for a short time...but they knew. They knew they had found the loves of their lives and that's all they needed to know. They married on November 14th 2007; a quickie wedding.

But then, they decided they wanted something more, a formal wedding. The kind with all their close friends and family witnessing the love they found for each other. And I was honored to photograph that wedding two years ago today, on April 6th 2008.

Beka and Nick congratulations on your love....you truly are one of my most favorite couples!!

The Powers Family....minus One

This is one of my most favorite families in the whole wide world. Each and every one of them are so photogenic that there isn't much to do after taking their photos...which by the way is exactly how photographers want it!!!

The only problem with these photos....their Daddy isn't in them. He is in the Army and serving our Country over in Korea. And while he is missing his wonderful family, the only thing I can do is to help document these memories so he has them close to him until he returns.

Oh and by the way....Happy Birthday Randall....I hope you enjoy this!!!

My Beautiful Little Ones.....

Yes, that's right, these are my beautiful little ones. My grandchildren!!

Mariah arrived on the scene in 2004. Her heart is as big as her eyes and she is a beauty inside and out!! However, she is five and definitely has a mind of her own...

Kayla joined the world in 2007 and hasn't slowed down since. She is adorable; full of life and energy!! Her blues eyes and fair skin will melt your heart to pieces.

Denver, who was scheduled to show up the beginning of 2010, decided he (along with his sister Bethany) liked 2009 better. Hence, they were born premature and a little underweight (by three or four pounds). Denver however is trying desperately to catch up to the other kids on the playground and now weighs in at 10lbs. 10oz. He loves his milk!!

Bethany came in on the coat tails of her brother, Denver. She is so sweet and has a disposition to go with it. Very easy and relaxed (unlike her bro who wants everyone to know he is in the room). And she isn't quite as worried about catching up like her brother either...she weighs in at around 7lbs.

Trying to catch Kayla for photos is difficult, but I think I caught a couple....

We first met when I had the honor of photographing the varsity girls basketball team from AB Miller High School. I was so excited that Amanda wanted me to be her photographer for her Senior Class of 2010 portraits. It was a blast shooting the Lady Rebels, so I knew Amanda and I would have a great time too....and...we did!

This shoot was all about the girlie in Amanda. She had (as you can see) a lot of beautiful outfits to change into. Amanda has an awesome sense of style...I loved all her dresses! And she had some really fun ideas for poses.

They have known each other for less than three months; but to this little five year old girl, her cousins mean the world to her. I'm sure at one point in their lives they won't get along, for whatever reason, but for now Mariah adores these little rays of light that have come into her life. Heck, we all do!

A Birthday Boy and a Princess...

We met him last spring when he was just six weeks old. He was tiny, almost all black and a little ball of fur. During these past months of Koda's first year we have all grown in many different ways. Koda has grown into a majestic and proud GSD. He is so protective of his family and his domain, yet he is a gentle giant. We have learned that having dogs is a full time endeavor but well worth it. We have also learned that life is better with pets and that it really doesn't matter how destroyed our backyard is. Grass can and will grow again!

Koda has been trained from puppy classes all the way to advanced class. He has his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certificate and a vest to prove it. Watch out world (or at least the mall) here comes the great Mr. Koda Bear.....

And because I can't just post some photos of Koda, here is his little sister, Princess Daisy!

What can I say about this girl, Faith? Well to begin with I can say she is beautiful, inside and out. She has the warmest smile and a laugh that goes with it. I met Faith and her mom Tracie a couple of weeks ago for a Class of 2010 portrait session. What a blast they were!! I can't wait to see them again for some outdoors shooting fun with Faith's new car.....

Can I just say you ladies are gorgeous and totally great to work with. New Year, New Blog and New Babies....

They came into this world, just before Thanksgiving, eight weeks early, tiny but together. They made the NICU their home for a few weeks. Denver came home just after Christmas leaving his sister behind to grow a little more. Bethany arrived home just before her Mommies birthday in January and now all is right with the world! Except for the fact that Mom really doesn't get much sleep.....

Koda Bear

I can't believe we have had Koda for two and half months already. He is such a good puppy and growing so fast. When we got him (at 6 weeks old) he weighed in at 15lbs. He now weighs 53lbs and counting. As you can tell, his paws are still really big.

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Craig Traylor. He has been an actor since the age of 4 and needed some updated head shots! He really knew how to work the camera, so all I had to do was shoot. I had a blast and can't wait to do it again....thanks Craig and Meme for a fun afternoon!!

Happy Easter Photos of Mariah and Kayla!!

So, I was so excited to finally be able to have a little session with Mariah and Kayla in their matching Easter dresses. But, Mariah wasn't feeling the whole photography thing that day. I managed to get a few (very few) before she totally had a melt down. Oh well, it's always the hardest shooting your own!!

I do believe however, that the shots I did get were gorgeous of sweet (did I just say that?) Mariah!

Koda Bear

Please meet the newest member of the Nanfito family.....Koda Bear!! He is a male German Shepherd about 8 weeks old now. So full of fun and energy, but loves to nap too (thank goodness)...

The one thing I wanted for my birthday (Feb. 26th) was to photograph my girls. How nice of them to let me too. Melissa was getting her hair done at Spoiled Rotten Salon and they have a great area in the back for photos. I just love the jeep....can you say "Charlie's Angels".....

I just wish the little ones were with them, but Kayla was asleep on Papa and Mariah was getting her hair done.

I never get a chance to shoot just Melissa. Doesn't she look gorgeous here? I hope she lets me do this more often!!

We had such a fun time shooting the ever beautiful Carolina! She is from Venezuela and her accent is almost as gorgeous as she is. Next month we will be having another session and bring in her husband Bob and their daughter Isabella....can't wait!!! For now though here is a sneak peak at Carolina.
